Trustee recruitment

29 May 2018

Cardiff Institute for the Blind (CIB) is seeking to recruit additional directors to its board of trustees. We are particularly keen to hear from people with one or more of the following skills and experiences:

  • Commercial business set-up/management
  • Income generation and/or fundraising
  • Charity and/or corporate governance
  • Safeguarding
  • Information governance

Cardiff Institute for the Blind provides support to thousands of blind and partially sighted people and their families, carers and friends across South Wales. We are over 150 years old, have an association agreement with RNIB and have offices in Cardiff, Swansea and Pontypridd.

As an organisation that continually evolves, we intend to reach thousands more people with the support of our President; rugby legend Sir Gareth Edwards; and a wide range of public, private and Third sector partners. To do this even more efficiently and effectively, we are seeking additional directors for our board but we will also consider co-opted members.

So please get in touch if you want to make a huge difference to people’s lives. A commitment ranging between five to ten days a year is likely to be needed, usually with four board meetings taking place in the day.  The appointment is subject to Disclosure and Barring Scheme checks and to written references. There is currently no term of office but positions are reviewed by both parties after the first six months.  Positions are unremunerated but expenses for travel maybe claimed.

To apply, please send your CV and a covering letter outlining why you are interested in the post and what particular skills and experiences you feel you can contribute to [email protected] For more information, please contact Kieran Harris, Director of Operations, on 07881 908 132 or [email protected]
