WORD UP campaign

Following on from the very successful launch of WORD UP in Barry Library, Cardiff Institute for the Blind is actively spreading awareness of the book reading access facilities available to blind and visually impaired people in other libraries in the area.
The scheme will be rolling out to other libraries in our area in 2008.
Dates for your diary are:
Cowbridge 6th March
Llantwit 9th April
Penarth 30th April
Cardiff 14th May
Barry Library is a new state of the art and forward looking facility. All of its services, which are offered in a friendly relaxed manner, are available and accessible to anybody with a visually impairment.
As well as large print and audio books, the library also has CCTVs and adapted computer technology. Classes are run by the library and the members of staff are fully trained in the use of the hi-tech equipment.
Cardiff Library are keen to let service users know of the 18,000+ CDs available to loan from the library and also of the HOUSEBOUND library service for people in Cardiff who need books to be delivered and collected from their home.
It is important that innovative community facilities such as the libraries are used to the full by our members if services are to be continued to be improved.
We therefore very much hope that you will be able to pop in and meet informally with the library staff to experience the excellent facilities they can offer you right on your doorstep.
